8 Students Of Mumbai IB School Suspended After Their WhatsApp Chat About ‘Raping’ Classmates Surfaces

Recent cases of brutal rapes have made citizens seriously question the safety of women in the country. At such a crucial time, when people need to understand the sensitivity of the matter and respect women around them, a WhatsApp group chat of students from a reputed IB school in Mumbai is making headlines.

The incident came to light when mothers of two of the female students got their hands on the WhatsApp group chat of their classmates where other boys were making awful statements about their classmates. The chat transcript includes words like ‘rape’, ‘gang bang’, ‘gay’, ‘lesbian’ among others, reports The Tribune.

The data of the group chat that ranges over a span of one-month shows boys referring to a group of girls and talking about their respective preferences ‘for one night’. Names of two girls have been repeatedly used in the chat, reports Mumbai Mirror.

In one of the conversations, a boy wrote, “Then one night we just go and bang her.” Following some other messages with words like ‘rape’ and ‘gang bang’. To which another person replied in the affirmative.

Some other messages in the chat include terms like, “I’ll destroy that little bi**h” and “should I go full-on and kill her existence”. Tagging other classmates as ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ in the chat, students have also made fun of homosexuality. Some other phrases used in the chat include, “He gets raped by his dad” and “Didn’t rape (xxx).”

Parents of one of the students spoke about the same and said, “We must trust the school will take care of it. There is no need to go beyond the school to take care of the situation.” Another parent said, “It is shocking as some of the boys were in leadership positions. I think what the children need is serious counseling.”

Eight students aged between 13 and 14 years have been suspended by the school following the incident. The school has however opted to remain tight-lipped about the matter.
