13-YO From Ludhiana Turns School Lessons Into Minecraft Sessions; Impresses Microsoft CEO

Children these days are wise beyond their years. And, they love using modern technology to their advantage. From ordering toys online to helping save a life, kids sure know how to put to modern gadgets to great use.

Recently, a seventh-grader from Ludhiana has made learning fun through technology. Namya Joshi from Sat Paul Mittal School has been helping teachers convert classroom sessions into interactive Minecraft classes, reports Hindustan Times. The 13-year-old believes “if children do not like reading books, one can make them take interest in Minecraft”.

If you didn’t know, Minecraft is a video game where people explore a virtual world. The game helps you learn a lot of things including how the world functions and it also explains STEM and the concepts of cyber-security through storytelling.

The bright girl even impressed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during the ‘Young Innovators’ Summit’ in the national capital. Namya, who has conducted multiple Skype sessions to help teachers globally convert classroom lessons into interactive Minecraft sessions, left the Indian-origin executive very impressed.
During the event, Nadella spoke about the role of technology in transforming the education ecosystem over the coming years. He mentioned how kids today can solve some of the world’s most pressing issues with the help of modern technology.

“What excited and inspired me from my meetings with students was the quality of their ideas, the scope of their ambition, deep passion and deep empathy turning into action. This is truly transformative, and is how societies and economies move forward,” he was quoted saying.

The young girl also takes online lectures for students to initiate them into the use of Minecraft for learning. According to the Republic World, she was introduced to the online game by her mother when she was only ten-years-old. And, Namya now uses the informative game to change the world of learning.
The ‘Young Innovators’ Summit’, that was attended by over 250 students and educators, gave her a great platform to present her innovative approach to teaching. Well, kudos to the young girl and her modern yet brilliant way of learning. Technology sure can be used for the betterment of society.
