Raising a child in urban India has become increasingly difficult, and the cost of education is one of the major factors. Schools charging exorbitant fees leaves many wondering – how practical is it to raise a child today? While some families still avoid discussing finances when it comes to children, it’s time to ask tough questions. Are these schools really worth the price, or are parents being forced to pay ridiculous amounts for basic education?
Speaking of which, a viral post about a school’s outrageous fee structure has sparked massive outrage on social media. Shared by ENT surgeon Jagdish Chaturvedi on X, the photo highlights an unbelievable charge: Rs 8,400 for a parents’ orientation. Yes, just for parents to attend a single session.
8400 INR parent orientation fee!!!
No parent will ever agree to pay even 20% of this for a Doctors consultation..I am planning to open a school now 😁 pic.twitter.com/IWuy3udFYU

The photo of the fee structure left people shocked and angry, with many claiming that education in India has become more of a business than a service. Have a look at some of the reactions to the post here:
People will spend for their children what they will never do for themselves.

I don’t think that Jr. KG fees should be 1Lkh plus. Even in tier 1 cities, you will find good scools with 25-30K fees. It depends on what neighborhood you are in. Schools then create hypes, and when demand increases, so increase the fees.

Was lucky in our and children’s times. Quality education at reasonable price.
Now it is pure dacoity in the name of education which is also pedestrian.
The ownership and revenue sharing models of Private School and colleges tells us clearly about what ails the country.— Soumendu Mukherji (@SoumenduM) October 23, 2024
This is pure daylight loot…. Not sure why the Government is not intervening and standardising the fee structure for Private schools as well.
Private sector job people are getting taxed heavily with no social security and no support from Govt.— Ishdeeep Singh (@Ishdeep18) October 24, 2024
From donation fees to high-priced school uniforms, books, and extracurricular activities, the financial burden on middle-class families is overwhelming.
