Students are disheartened when they prepare for the exams and one fine day they get the news that the exams have been cancelled. When few students who are too lazy to study, spoil it for everyone out there, the distress caused is unimaginable.

Meet Bhagirath Singh aka Admission Singh, he is the owner of a lodge and a mastermind of the infamous cheating scam.

  • All a student needs to do here is pay him Rs 10,000 and go give the exam.
  • The student will leave the answer sheet empty and draw a pre-decided sign (like a star)
  • Then with the question paper the student comes back to Bhagirath Singh’s lodge, sit and write the answers from the textbook
  • And ta-ding, the student’s original blank answer sheet will be replaced with the new answered sheet.

Sneaky, isn’t it?

What do you do when you want to be extra careful about keeping your examinations leak proof? You outsource the process to an agency. What a wise decision by Jamia Millia Islamia. However, their stealth mode wasn’t so smart after all when a day before the examination, they realized that the question paper was leaked and circulated among the students via social media. As a result, they had to cancel the exam just a day prior and reschedule the entrance test. What more could they do?

3. Uttar Pradesh Combined Premedical Test-2014 (UPCPMT-2014)

It is easier to illegally cross the border and reach Pakistan than to clear a pre-medical test in India. So more than one lakh students travelled across cities and reached their exam centres to change their fate. Only, someone had already done that for them. The officials of King George Medical University upon receiving the examination papers identified that the boxes had been tampered with. They couldn’t identify if some papers were missing from the box or just photocopied. A few minutes before the examination was to start, the students had to be sent back with a notification on the university website that the exam was postponed until further notice. The agitated students couldn’t do anything more than whining (because you don’t mess with the officials in UP).

In November 2014, 5000 students were caught cheating during their annual exams. And then later in May 2015, the economics paper was leaked via Whatsapp. Some insider who felt more faithful towards students’ money than their education, felt free to click a picture of the examination paper and circulate it amongst the students. As a result, the exam had to be cancelled a few minutes before it was scheduled. The officials termed the act as mischievous and the culprit has not been caught yet.

Why should colleges have all the fun? So Bihar. which is as famous for cheating as is for producing bulk IAS/IPS/IFS officers, showed that unity has more strength than we can imagine. When kids gave their exams for class 10th (which is not even that difficult), their parents paid the cop guarding the examination  centre, climbed up the parapets and passed sheets and chits to the students giving exams. The number of parents indulging in such unfair means for school examinations was shocking and amusing at the same time. I feel these are the same cheating addict students who grow up to get involved in more scandalous techniques of cheating.

Keeping the jokes aside, the question remains, why cheat?
Because many believe, when they have the option to cheat then why not!
Instances of cheating are increasing every year and with that in mind, what is the future of our country?
