In the time of coronavirus, ‘contactless’ has become the new buzzword and businesses are adapting themselves to this new normal. Earlier, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) launched robots to provide face masks and information about the pandemic and now, a textile showroom in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has come up with something similar, albeit, with a desi twist.
According to Mumbai Mirror, a saree-clad mannequin has been employed to track the location of customers (with the help of a sensor) and offer them sanitizer. It also has a screen that displays information on the importance of social distancing. Take a look.
Technology put to right use at one of the textile showrooms in TN. An automated mannequins draped in saree detects customers around and walks to them to provide sanitisers. Post Corona is sure to see intensified technological evolutions. pic.twitter.com/r2QQg1wpsY

While the exact store has not been identified (Twitter thinks it may be Chennai Silks or Pothys), everyone agrees that it is a wonderful idea to use a robot for this purpose. Many have applauded the innovativeness of the move and hope that it gets replicated throughout the country.
An effective way tp gather maximum eyeballs and ensure everybody entering the premises is sanitised. Have seen bots at airports. But a saree clad bot will always be a head-turner! 😆
