‘I Was Talking Too Loud, Attention-Seeking’: Sara Ali Khan On Developing A ‘Bindaas’ Persona

We were first introduced to Sara Ali Khan after she appeared on Koffee With Karan with her father Saif Ali Khan. The country was taken aback by how confident, intelligent, articulate and witty this girl was. Every interview she gave after that was loved and people began really rooting for her. I know I did.

But after her first film ‘Kedarnath’, the intelligent and confident persona shifted and Sara Ali Khan became this loud and silly personality. She pulled off weird stunts during the promotions of her films and made a joke of herself. She became the centre of jokes and people gradually started to get over her.

In a recent interview, Sara Ali Khan opened up about what happened back then. Calling 2019 “the year of mistakes”, Indian Express quoted her saying:

“I call it the year of mistakes in my own head, and now publicly. I just made one mistake after the other. I was talking too loud, I was behaving boisterous, attention-seeking, and it came from a place that I don’t fully understand. I started thinking that people like the bindaas girl, so she became so bindaas it became almost annoying, and it translated even on screen. I’m aware of that now.”

She further added that she is aware of the hiccups that happened in her career so far and now, she has moved on from them.

“Definitely, there have been hiccups in my career early on, and I think that what’s really happened now is that I’ve decided to forgive myself for it. I was very harsh on myself for that, which was also necessary, but now it’s the time to move on.”

Amongst most of the star kids, Sara was the one whom people thought had substance and a strong mind. We need that version of her back!
