Sapna Pabbi Supports Tanushree Dutta, Shares She Was Forced To Wear An Underwired Bikini

Former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta’s shocking allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar have taken the industry by storm. Recalling an incident that took place in 2009, Dutta accused Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Please’. Not only Nana Patekar but Tanushree also charged choreographer Ganesh Acharya, director Vivek Agnihotri and a few others for being a part of the episode.

While Nana Patekar has laughed off the accusations and is willing to deal with it legally, Bollywood has been divided into two halves over the matter. Interestingly, the first one includes some massive names such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan who have chosen not to take a side. And the second one saw some support for Tanushree in the name of Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Farhan Akhtar, Renuka Sahane, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and a few others.

And now, Tanushree Dutta has another individual by her side in the name of British actress and model Sapna Pabbi.

Taking to her official Instagram account, the ‘Khamishiyan’ actress expressed her support for Tanushree. In a lengthy and powerful post, Sapna mentioned that she has also faced similar traumatic experiences and on several occasions. However, what comes as a disappointment is the fact that she was not offered a helping hand by the ‘women’ in the industry during her tough times.

“As an actress I often experience what Tanushree has experienced on almost a daily basis. My voice silenced my words manipulated, twisted and used for the wrong reasons. I have had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented females in all kinds of respective roles within the business.”

“Sadly I have been disappointed with the way some of these women (and others within my working environment) have remained absent during such traumatic and difficult situations and were merely witnessing if not taking advantage themselves.”

Pointing out a particular incident that took place with her, Sapna explained how she was forced to wear an underwired bra for a dance sequence. The 29-year-old added that she was facing serious problems due to the underwiring of the garment and had asked her stylist if she could remove it. However, her male director insisted to keep it as it is and the actress obliged to it in fear of being expelled by the production house.

I remember one in particular where I had Ito wear a bikini for a song and dance sequence. During my trials I had informed my stylist (female) that jumping around in this underwired bikini for more than 7 hours would eventually cause me severe chest pains and if we could just remove the underwire I would feel more comfortable and pain free.

She went on to interpret how she had to deal with relentless chest pains that night which made her movements slow the next morning. She was questioned for being sluggish in her work and that is when she informed them about her ache last night. Rubbishing her reasons, the director informed her that she is becoming extremely difficult to work with. But what came as a surprise to her is that her stylist herself believed that she was throwing tantrums and shared a laugh with the director and the producer.

“I was forced to wear this bikini as it is, as my male director insisted it stay this way. I went ahead and did as I was told in the fear of being dropped/blacklisted from this production house. I woke up in the middle of my sleep due to these agonising chest pains. I will never forget how I resorted to screaming into my pillow.”

“I then found out that the stylist herself thought I was being demanding and laughed about it with the male director and producer. I understand that she may have been scared to raise her voice as we all are at times; but she chose to ignore me and throw me under the bus instead.”

To finish her posts she added that the incident is nothing short of a betrayal by a ‘fellow sister’. She urged all ‘women’ in the industry to stand by each other in cases of harassment and abuse instead of “throwing each other under the bus”.

“Let’s not throw each other under the bus. Hold her hand when you see someone doing wrong by her and stand up for her because – it can and will happen to you and you are going to need her to hold yours.”

Though the case is far from over with Nana Patekar preparing to take legal actions, we can smell a significant change in the industry. We hope Tanushree Dutta gets justice if the actor is found guilty.
