Indian Cricketer Prithvi Shaw Allegedly Attacked After Fight With An Influencer Over A Selfie

A while back, people lost their calm on seeing Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone travelling in economy class on an airline. The video of the uncomfortable DP walking to the restroom sparked debate on the privacy of celebs in public.

Well now, social media is currently buzzing with videos of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw engaging in a brawl with a woman.

In the video, one can see Prithvi and the woman, identified as social media influencer Sapna Gill alias Sana, fighting over a baseball bat. Both of them can be seen trying to take away the bat from each other before Prithvi blocks Sapna’s friend from filming the video.

In another video, Sapna and her male friend are heard saying that Prithvi and his friends attacked them inside a club in Mumbai where they went to a party.

They kept telling the cops ‘humlogo ne kuch nhi kiya. Mai apney dost k saath party karney aaya hu’ while Prithvi is seen standing on the other side of the barricade trying to call for help.

According to the Times Of India, the scuffle allegedly happened between the cricketer and the social media influencer after her male friend Shoubhit Thakur continuously pestered Shaw to click selfies with him at the hotel where all of them were present together.

According to an FIR filed by Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav against Sapna and his friends, Shaw had clicked multiple pictures with them but since they repeatedly nagged him for more selfies, he got irritated and turned down their demands. After that, Gill and her friend Shoubhit started arguing with him. Soon, Gill and her friend were asked to leave the hotel premises.

In spite of leaving the spot, they waited for around 25 minutes with more people armed with baseball bats for Shaw and his friends to exit the hotel and damaged Shaw’s luxury car. After engaging in a massive argument documented in the above video, they also chased Shaw’s car and attacked it, reported NDTV.

Sensing trouble, Shaw was shifted to another vehicle while his friend drove down to Oshiwara. He was then chased by three motorcycles and a white car. He drove down to Oshiwara police station where the chasers also followed him.

Apparently, Sapna and her party also demanded Rs 50,000 from Shaw to settle the matter and threatened to file a fake police case against him. The complaint also alleged that both Sapna and her friend were in an inebriated state. However, Sapna and her seven friends denied all these allegations saying that Shaw was drunk and his team attacked them first.

She is currently under police custody at the Oshiwara police station and a complaint has been registered against the eight of them under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 148 (rioting), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and others reported TOI.

Sapna Gill’s lawyer Ali Kashif told the media, “Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical.”
