Sanya Malhotra On Breaking Up From Her 4-Year-Long Relationship & How She Dealt With It

Break up or separation from someone we once loved with the entirety of our heart gives us the worst heartaches. While some people find the strength and direction that helps them heal from it, others drown deep in the sorrow.

Looking at Bollywood actor Sanya Malhotra, no one would think that behind her chirpy and bubbly façade, there’s a girl who has been through a heart-wrenching breakup.

During her healing time last year from the breakup of her long-distance relationship of 4 years, the ‘Dangal’ actor went through an emotional rollercoaster. However, she used the time to work on herself.

“I think break-ups are hard for everyone. That is what pushed me to really work on myself. My last break-up was heart-wrenching for me: a four-year-long, long-distance relationship that began when I lived in Delhi,” Times Of India quoted her saying during an interview.

“Right after we ended things, the lockdown was imposed and I was alone in Mumbai. But I took the time to process the situation and understand why things didn’t work out. I also understood that I needed to work on myself. 2020 was a good year for me, the year of healing.”

Stressing on the significance of self-love, the 29-year-old actor added that people think self-love isn’t as important. “Especially in Bollywood, where you’ll see one person running after another person for love, but it actually resides inside you.”

Sanya has been through the emotional turbulences that come with love. Now, her views on relationships have evolved. “I’ve been single for a while now, and my focus has shifted to ‘me, myself, and I’. I’ve been working on my mental health and taking care of myself,” India Today quoted her saying.

“I’m truly glad that I got this time to work on myself and get to know myself better because when you’re with someone, one’s attention gets divided. I’m 29, single, and I think I know myself pretty well.”

Knowing your self-worth is important. We lose ourselves the moment we let others control how we feel. Kudos to Sanya for using the healing time to come out stronger and secure.
