Love stories hold a special kind of magic and the story of this couple proves that love at first sight is no myth. Sanjay and Doug walked down the aisle after dating for almost 10 years. However, Sanjay revealed that they met at the Manchester Pride in 2009, and it was ‘love at first sight’.
The London-based duo wore matching sherwanis at the wedding that honored Sanjay’s cultures as he has an Indo-UK heritage. They also exchanged garlands at the court wedding.
“We absolutely loved the traditional Indian garlands we exchanged at our registry. These were handmade by our mums and some close family friends which made them so special,” said Doug.
He also revealed that their dads walked them down the aisle as they tied the knot.
The couple now spends their time travelling and have visited over 50 countries, including Greece and India. “Our adventure has taken us from London, to Istanbul, Connecticut to New York. The COVID pandemic made things more difficult for us,” they revealed.
As they celebrate being happily married, the duo is about to welcome a little baby into their lives. “As a gay couple we never thought we would have children and recently decided to embark on the biggest journey of our lives, parenting through surrogacy. Now we are a gay couple on our way to having a family,” said Sanjay.
“We have had so much to learn about matching with a surrogate/gestational carrier, forming a relationship, egg retrieval IVF, creating embryos, embryo implantation, PGS testing, HcG levels, pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, challenges with pregnancy and loads more,” they shared.
They posted a picture with their surrogate Amber. “I got to feel our baby moving for the first time and it really was the most beautiful moment ever. It was bittersweet that Sanjay wasn’t able to come due to continued travel restrictions but fingers crossed it won’t be long until we are all together soon. We are now in our 3rd trimester and Amber is the biggest superstar I know. We are feeling very very lucky,” wrote Doug.
