“Your Time’s Up, Sir.” Sandhya Mridul Backs Vinta Nanda, Says Alok Nath Harassed Her Too

A huge question mark currently hangs over the sanskaars of the Bollywood and television’s most sanskaari babuji, Alok Nath. Veteran televison writer-producer Vinta Nanda alleged that Alok Nath raped her 19 years ago. Nanda also alluded to his ‘Tara’ co-star Navneet Nishan being harassed, to which the latter then concurred with.

Just this morning, an anonymous crew member from the uber sanskaari film Hum Saath Saath Hain alleged that Alok Nath had assaulted her on set as well. With each emerging account, Alok Nath’s image is undergoing a stark metamorphosis—from the aashirwaad-giving babuji, he is now being labelled as an rapist/harasser/alcoholic.

And now, another co-star of his, actress Sandhya Mridul, has also spoken up in solidarity with Vinta Nanda. Sandhya has also recounted her own horrific encounter with Alok Nath during a shoot.

In a tweet, Sandhya has shared a detailed description of how Alok Nath harassed her during a shoot for a Zee telefilm in Kodaikanal.

Sandhya reveals that she wasa newcomer then. The late Reema Lagoo was playing her mother, while Alok Nath was playing her father.

It was during a cast dinner that Alok Nath allegedly began showing his true colours, under the influence of alchohol, and made Sandhya uncomfortable.

Once back at her hotel room, Sandhya was once again faced with an inebriated Alok Nath as he tried to force himself into her room.

“I fell backwards towards the bathroom door. He lunged at me again screaming ‘I want you, you’re mine’.”

It is difficult to fathom how Sandhya managed to enact a scene with the same man who tried to assaulted her the night before playing her father. But she pulled through, hoping it was the end if it.

Unfortunately, the harassment did not end there. It got so worse that the hairdresser had to move into Sandhya’s room to ensure her safety.

When the stress took a toll on the actress and she fell sick, Alok Nath (in all his sobriety) came to her room again and tried to apologise to her.

However, the damage was done. Sandhya concluded her account by proclaiming solidarity with Vinta Nanda and #TimesUp for her alleged harasser, Alok Nath.

She also penned another powerful piece about sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement, and called other women to speak up and stand up against their harassers.

Now awaiting another ridiculous response from Alok Nath, discrediting this survivor as well. #TimesUp
