Samsung’s Clever Innovation ‘Safety Truck’ Can Help Prevent Disastrous Road Accidents

Argentina is known for its road mishaps. Nearly 80 percent of road accidents happen because of one lane roads present in Argentina. Almost one person dies in a traffic accident every hour. It mainly happens because of people attempting to overtake. In a country of hundreds of one-lane roads, Samsung saw a way to make a difference – By introducing Safety Trucks.

Safety Trucks has a wireless camera attached to the front of the truck which films the oncoming traffic and four exterior monitors located on the back. The camera sends the image of the oncoming traffic through a video wall and displays it on those four monitors on the back of the truck. This would help the driver, who is behind the truck, to judge whether it’s safe to overtake or not.

This is where the camera is installed:

Isn’t this an amazing way to prevent road accidents? Oh, if you are wondering how to prevent the accidents at night, Samsung’s Safety Truck also has a facility of night vision mode. How cool is that?! 🙂

The truck’s prototype has already been tested, though no models are currently on the road. Samsung claims to be working together with local governments to figure out how to optimize the system for live road use. “So far Samsung has been able to confirm that the technology works and that this idea can definitely save the lives of many people,” they write.

It’s amazing how technology can help to save lives, right?
What a brilliant approach, Samsung!
