Sameera Reddy Shares Powerful Note On Body-Positivity As She Poses In A Swimsuit

Much of the world still believes and idolises the perfect female body type – the one with slender hands and legs, a tiny waist, and flawless skin. But thankfully, many people are now discussing body positivity and body-neutrality, making our society more inclusive of all body types.

One of the people who constantly preaches this idea is Sameera Reddy. She has spoken at length about post-partum weight gain and other bodily changes that are very normal for new mothers to go through. Despite often being shamed for her weight, Sameera recently took to Instagram to share a picture of herself in a swimsuit and posted a heartfelt note.

“You don’t need to explain your body appearance to anyone. Or give them a reason or excuse why you look a certain way. I’ve heard many times that I had a postpartum ‘excuse’ for weight gain. I disagree,” she wrote.

Talking about weight fluctuation, she added:

“Weight fluctuations can happen to anyone at any stage. I’ve gained weight many times before becoming a mother. It’s only now that I am fully aware of my patterns. I can mindfully stay on course to becoming healthy and fit: NOT SKINNY!”

She highlighted how while people continue to pass their unsolicited judgement on one’s body, we should not try to fit in.

“I choose to talk about this because I see many messages from men and women on the judgement & pressure. This post is to have you know that You don’t need to fit into what is expected of you to look a certain type.”

Several people responded to her post and called her an inspiration, thanking her for being so unashamedly real.

Weight gain and body changes after having a baby are as normal as wanting to face-palm hard when someone passes unsolicited comments about your body! There should be no shame attached to it.
