When it comes to dishing out unique and sometimes questionable recipes, no one can beat us Indians. After ‘Chai Pasta’ and ‘Chilli Jalebi’, salted butter coffee is what’s giving some foodies their worst nightmare.

Foodie Amar Sirohi recently went to the by lanes of purani Dilli near Jama Masjid to hunt down a coffee wala who has been serving piping hot ‘Amul Butter Coffee’ for the past 20 years.

Irked by this unique combo, Amar decided to give it a try. In the video, one can see the vendor concoct the hot beverage. He first adds some milk followed by heaps of salted Amul butter.

The man then adds some coffee and sugar and gives it a good blend using the good old coffee machine often seen at Indian weddings.

Post this short steaming session, he pours the coffee right into the cups and tops it will a good amount of cocoa powder. On tasting, Amar wasn’t very much pleased with this ‘namkeen coffee’.

This is how people on the gram reacted to it:

Apparently, butter coffee is also famous by the name ‘Bulletproof Coffee’ that is being consumed by many, especially those who follow the keto diet. According to reports, it’s an energizing beverage made with quality fats.

This beverage is a “powerful part of intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets. It helps you feel satisfied, alert, and focused.” And you can easily make it at home by using coffee and some kind of unsalted fat (ghee, oil, or butter). You can simply blend it until it turns creamy and frothy before drinking.

Having said that, I would like to assert that when Amar in the video says, ‘kalyug aa chuka hai’, I felt that. Would you give this a try?
