Salman Khan is known to have gotten into a lot of trouble in his career span of almost three decades. And, attracted more trouble when in inebriated state. But we bet, no one remembers the story of the ugly spat Salman had with his now friend, Subhash Ghai.

“No. I have never beaten her. Anyone can beat me up. Any fighter here on the sets can thrash me. That is why people are not scared of me. I do get emotional. Then I hurt myself. I have banged my head against the wall; I have hurt myself all over. I cannot hurt anyone else.”

He confessed of hitting Ghai and even cited how the incident happened,

“I have only hit Subhash Ghai. Yet, I apologised to him the next day.”

“There are times when you do get out of control. That person hit me with a spoon, almost broke a plate on my face, pissed on my shoes and grabbed me by the neck. I could not control myself. And see what happened. Next day, I had to go and apologise.”

They then called truce and went on to work together on ‘Yuvvraaj’ which starred his then girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

Years after that Subhash, in a write-up on Box Office India, recalled how the incident was depressing for him.

“It was very embarrassing for me that night and I came back home completely depressed. Next morning I got a call from Salim sahib who paid his respect to me by apologizing and sent Salman to my home within one hour. Salman came and stood in front of me like a guilty child. I smiled and asked him, ‘What happened to you last night ?’ and he said, ‘I have come here because my father told me to do so.’ I said, ‘So you are not sorry?’ and he replied, ‘Of course I am.’ That’s how we broke the ice.”

Ever since then, both Khan and Ghai have been there for each other and been through thick and thin.

“This meeting became a moment of love for each other. Since then Salman treats me like an elder brother or father and I genuinely love him for whatever he is. For me he is still a child. We worked in one film Yuvvraaj in our lowest time but he was very respectful to me as a professional on the set and surprised everyone. In fact, I have seen Salman growing up as a child to a boy to a man and then to a human being with dignity. I admire the way he has evolved in these 50 years from an arrogant child to a stubborn boy, a possessive lover, to a mild and soft person and rising up as a selfless philanthropist with his Being Human organisation today. Now I can say it with pride that he is the finest son, great brother, sincere friend and a compassionate human being for the needy. His failure and superstardom has never affected him. It comes to him naturally. He is very strong man today.”
