Fans Speculate Flaw In Saina Nehwal’s Biopic Poster, Say ‘It’s Tennis Serve Not Badminton’

The wait for the first look of professional badminton singles player Saina Nehwal’s biopic is finally over as its poster and teaser make it to social media.

The movie that is scheduled to release on 26th March stars Parineeti Chopra essaying the epic journey of the world-renowned badminton player. Directed by Amole Gupte, the film’s teaser seems to be promising. However, its poster has already started to create a buzz on social media.

The minimalist poster features a hand throwing the shuttlecock up in the air with ‘Saina’ replacing the feathers on it. At first, it comes out as interesting and eye-catching, but on critically scanning it, many Twitter users came to the conclusion that the poster has an error, reported News18.

Many alleged that the way the shuttlecock is being served is far off from how badminton players do it. In fact, some pointed out that it’s similar to how tennis players serve the tennis ball.

However, some backed the makers and shared screengrabs of badminton players serving it in a similar style.

According to a blog by Decathlon, “Serve should always be done underarm and below the server’s waist. An overarm serve is against the rules of badminton, and would be considered a fault.”
