Saif On Being Compared To R Madhavan & Reading Reviews By Critics Who ‘Still Have Integrity’

It’s been a while since we saw Saif Ali Khan spread his magic on the big screen. But, better late than never. Saif is making a comeback with his upcoming film ‘Vikram Vedha’ wherein he stars alongside Hrithik Roshan.

Since this movie is the remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name with actors R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, people ought to compare both movies.

Talking about the inevitable comparisons and how he’s handling the pressure of it, Saif told Hindustan Times, “I actually welcome the comparisons.”

“I respect Madhavan immensely. He did a great job but I know there will be comparisons. Somebody told me something once. We are called stars, and there is a whole galaxy of them. And the reason there are so many is that everyone is different. So, I hope I am able to bring an interesting take on it.”

Interestingly, Saif is looking forward to making those comparisons. “It’s interesting to watch now and compare them. I loved Madhavan in the film.”

“And like Hrithik also said, we are completely different people, so the way he approached a scene is different from how I did it. I have never done a play but I imagine that’s what happens there when new actors come into a famous play. It’s so interesting.”

And since the movie is nearing its release date (30 September 2022), there will be reviews by critics and moviegoers. When asked if he gives any importance to film reviews, Saif divulged, “There are so many different reviews that sometimes it’s a mess. You read one that says it’s great, another calls it rubbish, and a third that says this is not good.”

“So, you select over time, who you trust. So 3-4 guys who still have some integrity, in my head, I know who they are. I like to read them because that teaches me something.”

People making remakes of blockbuster movies are definitely levied with an additional burden as the audiences expect the same kind of experience after watching the 2.0 version of the OG movie. I’m elated to watch Saif on the screen. Are you?
