A while back, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s brother-in-law shared a platform named ‘Nepometer’ that rated movies on the basis of how independent its crew is. The first rating of 98% nepotistic was given to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Sadak 2’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Jisshu Sengupta.
After the trailer was released on August 12, it became the 7th most-disliked video on YouTube in the world with 5.8 million dislikes and the most disliked video in the world by dislike percentage i.e. 94.75%. The trailer currently has only 3 lakh likes for 18 million views.
Several comments on the trailer had people saying this was a “Tribute to SSR” and a way to fight the nepotism in the industry as the lead actors are star kids. NDTV reports that several people also asked for the boycott of the movie due to Alia Bhatt’s closeness to Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt’s alleged friendship with Rhea Chakraborty.
Apart from ‘Sadak 2’, Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Gunjan Saxena’ has also received several 1-star ratings amidst the insider vs. outsider debate in Bollywood. What do you think of these developments?
