Every once in a while, the Bollywood music industry takes inspiration from sources such as regional songs or western beats to create a hit track. However, people often figure out the origin behind such blatant copies. Like, recently, when the trailer for Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Sadak 2’, was released, music producer Shezan Saleem aka JO-G claimed that a song playing in the background was copied from a 2011 composition produced by him in Pakistan.
The song in question is ‘Ishq Kamaal’ which is a part of the trailer for the Mahesh Bhatt directed movie. JO-G felt that the song sounded quite identical to his composition and hence shared a tweet pointing out the similarities between the two songs, reports HT. Hours after the release of the trailer, he shared a video, playing portions from both the songs to prove his point.

What do we do about this. Copied from a song that I produced in Pakistan and launched in 2011.

The producer further revealed that Mahesh Bhatt had visited his house in Karachi back in 2005 and picked up a few of his songs.
Can't say that about Bhatt Saab. He is a fine man. He came to our house in Karachi in 2005. Also picked up a few songs that I produced for my dad back in the day for his upcoming movies. Then due to India-Pak tension never got released. Bt the music producers should be asked this

He also requested people to help him spread the word about the blatant copy without due credits:
@parhlo Spread the word please. Bollywood copying our Pakistani songs as usual. I'm a Pakistani music producer/vlogger, I produced and launched a song in 2011 for a Pakistani singer Zaid Khan. The song just got copied in Bollywood.https://t.co/gd4AGQYEF1

Ironically, Pooja Bhatt, who is also a part of the film, had previously tweeted that they will introduce fresh music talent:
Even #Sadak2 gives birth to a brand new talent in the form of @Suniljeet72 A music teacher from Chandigarh who came to our office with no prior appointment,a dream,a harmonium & a brilliant song called ‘Ishq Kamaal’ that was absorbed into the film on first hearing by my father.

Well, while taking inspiration for music is a common phenomenon, it’s important that due credit is given where required. What do you think? Tell us!
