Actress Saba Qamar Breaks Down While Talking About Getting Harassed At Airports For Being Pakistani

It’s no secret that foreign countries especially their airports, do not take kindly to anyone who does not share an agreeable surname or is from a country which is infamous like Pakistan. Sadly, this racial profiling is not just limited to ordinary citizens and even people who travel to foreign locations to represent their country are detained by security.

I am sure, you have all heard of numerous stories of our very own King Khan being detained at the airport for questioning.

Unfortunately, another name has been added to the list of racial profiling and it’s none other than Saba Qamar of ‘Hindi Medium’ fame. The Pakistani actress who recently starred opposite Irrfan Khan opened up about frisking in International airports.

She also alleged that she was specifically targeted by airport security because her passport said she was a Pakistani citizen.

In a video which has since gone viral, a teary-eyed Saba was seen opening up about the humiliation she felt when she was stopped at Tbilisi airport. She said,

“When we went to Tbilisi to shoot for a film, all the Indian crew was allowed to go, but I was stopped. It was because of my passport. I was from Pakistan.

They did a full investigation. They let me go only after an interview. That day I realised our position. Where do we stand?”

Saba is one of many people who undergo such embarrassment just because their nationality or name does not agree with the security. It’s unfortunate that even after being lauded for her talent, she cannot represent her country without taking a bad memory in return.
