Somebody Spray-Painted ‘T-34’ On A Russian Polar Bear’s Coat, Video Sparks Outrage

Every day we come across cases of animal cruelty across the world. Whether it’s using them for painful experiments or tying crackers to their tails during Diwali, humans are guilty of outrageous behaviour towards animals.

Speaking of which, someone spray-painted “T-34” on a polar bear’s fur in Russia. According to a report by The Indian Express, a video of the polar bear with the painted coat spotted in the Chukotka region of Russia has been going viral.

T-34 is probably the name of an old tank of the Soviet-era used during the Second World War, reports sources. With its fur being painted, it would now be difficult for the polar bear to maintain camouflage during a hunt.

According to BBC, a scientist from the Institute of Biological Problems of the North, Anatoly Kochnev, said that the bear could have been sedated before it was painted. Else it wouldn’t have been possible.

It is speculated that this incident might be a result of the collective anger Russian locals are going through because of the rise of polar bears entering their neighbourhood for food as a result of global warming.

The video of the polar bear sparked massive outrage online. One person said, “Meantime, in Russia, somebody thinks it is funny to spray paint graffiti on a polar bear. Disgusting people”. Another went on to write, “Anyone who mistreats animals in deliberate abuse needs to be exterminated”.

Why do humans need to do cruel acts like this? What has the world come down to?
