When we think of bringing a pet home, we often narrow down to getting a dog, cat, guinea pig, goldfish or maybe even a duck and a chick! (FRIENDS fans will get it) The thought of getting an insect, that too a roach rarely makes it to the list. But this Russian man disagrees. It might be hard to stomach for some, but this man has been petting a cockroach.
However, his pet cockroach who was pregnant had to be taken to the vet as it was facing difficulties during its delivery. When the owner realized that his pet wasn’t keeping well, he decided to get medical assistance from the nearby vets. According to News18, the Archimandrite cockroach was unable to retract the cocoon in which the offsprings developed.
They stayed outside her body, risking her to infection. When the owner took the roach to the doctors, even they were surprised to see the tiny insect. But the doctors decided to help her instead. After diagnosing the roach, the doctors at the veterinary clinic named Limpopo in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia concluded that a surgery had to be done on the tiny creature.

The doctors then performed a nano-surgery on the tiny patient. The roach was first given three painkillers followed by an internal drug, a local anaesthetic and gas anaesthesia while removing the egg pouch from the cockroach’s body, reported Times Now.
A video of the vets carrying out the complicated surgery was shared online.

All credit to cockroach owner in seeking vetinary treatment when their (somewhat unusual) pet was in need of care, & to the vets for treating whichever pet comes through the door!

I get it. Just the thought of keeping the insect with you, 24×7 might make your skin roll, leave about taking it to the doctors for help. But isn’t it awesome to see the doctors helping the tiny insect?
