Rumy Jafry Says Sushant Wanted To Leave Acting, Kriti Sanon Condemns Social Media’s Toxicity

Several people, including well-known B-town stars, across the country, have been debating on ‘nepotism in Bollywood’ ever since Sushant Singh Rajput left us for his heavenly abode. His friends and fans have been reminiscing about the time they had spent with the ‘Kai Po Che!’ actor.

In a recent interview with ABP News, filmmaker Rumy Jafry revealed how he was about to shoot a film with the late actor and his rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. He also divulged how the actor had different and weird dreams.

Uske ajeeb ajeeb sapne the, kabhi bolta tha merko trees plant karna hai, kabhi bolta tha scientist ban na hai kuch invent karna hai, kabhi bolta tha kheti karna hai. (He had weird dreams. Sometimes he would say he wanted to plant trees across India and other times, he would wish to become a scientist to invent new things.)”

Rumy further shared how Sushant wanted to quit acting and wanted to do farming. “Uska mind hota tha ke acting chod ke main kheti krunga. Kehta tha, ‘Sir maza ni aa rha, sir main toh kuch cheezein invent karna chahta hu.’ Bada shaunk hota tha uska, bada bada telescope lata tha, yaha Bandra mein bhi, raat ko galaxy dekhta tha, alag stars dekhta tha. (He used to have it in his mind to leave acting and do farming. He used to tell me that he is not feeling it. He used to say that he wants to invent things. He always was interested in stars and used to get big telescopes and see stars.)”

Sushant’s schoolmate Atul in his social media post had earlier said how Sushant was made to feel like an outsider in the industry. Talking about this, Hindustan Times quoted Rumy saying, “I’ll tell you honestly, I have been listening to all these debates on TV channels and it hurts me a lot. The reason is that you know how the industry works. If anyone could plan or conspire to make someone’s career, so many directors and producers would have made their kids’ careers by now.”

“No one can make or break anyone’s career. Whether you are an insider or an outsider, only your talent will take you anywhere.”

“Sushant was an outsider but because of his talent, Yash Raj hired him for their films, Sajid Nadiadwala hired him, Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari hired him after Aamir (Khan),” he added.

Speculations were also made that Sushant was struggling to make it big in the industry. Clarifying this he said:

“You know how the business works. He was among the top 10 actors. The last film of his, ‘Chhichhore’, did Rs 150 crore business.”

“I know what the recovery was for my film that was doing with him,” he said.

Rumy added that even though filmmakers wanted to get in contact with Sushant, he would tell him that he wasn’t looking for more work. “He did less work and met few people,” he added.

And like many of his beloved people, Sushant’s friend and colleague Kriti Sanon had earlier penned a heartfelt note remembering him. Now, she slammed social media for being the ‘fakest, most toxic place.’

She wrote:

She ended her long note by suggesting to hold on to the people we love and care about. Well, a lot has already been said post the sad demise of the actor. I think we should just let his friends and family mourn in peace for now.
