Actress Ruhi Singh Opens Up About Being Stalked By An Anurag Kashyap Imposter

Once you are under the limelight it’s very easy to attract stalkers, like a moth to a flame. It’s enraging how faceless people on the internet or via different unknown numbers will write or do anything to grab negative attention.

A recent victim to this has been the Calendar Girls actress Ruhi Singh who is being stalked by a man posing to be Anurag Kashyap.

Recently, Ruhi has spoken publicly about her encounter with an obsessive fan who began by sending her unsolicited romantic messages which later led to offensive sexual texts.

It’s been a month since the stalker is annoying Ruhi, but things got out of hand when he started sending her threats.

“Initially I didn’t take the messages seriously because they were not offensive. They were coming from international numbers which I found strange”, she said in an interview with TOI.

She revealed how first she used to laugh it off and just block the numbers. But one day her notification read ‘Anurag Kashyap’. After checking the text, she realised it was the same guy.

“He started threatening and abusing me. He started taking names of friends, people who I generally chilled with. So he knew where I go and what I do.”

Ruhi added that she knows Kashyap personally and that he would never do something of that sort. But she called him to inform what was happening.

Kashyap was very supportive and helped Ruhi out by connecting her to one of his known police inspectors.

“For now, I keep blocking his numbers. I even replied to him once saying that he should stop harassing me or else I will take legal action. But it didn’t affect him and he went on to say bizarre things like, ‘I am a police officer myself ’. He clearly seems unstable”, she added.

She took to her Instagram to send across an important message to the stalker.

Finally, she shared an important message for women across the country who are facing harassment and intimidation by stalkers.

“My message to all the women out there would be to take action. You can’t get intimidated or scared of such people. He is also scared himself that’s why he doesn’t have the guts to come up and tell me who he is. He is hiding behind his smartphone pretending to be someone else.”

At least once in their lives, women come across such messages sent by stalkers. Don’t be afraid. Let your parents and friends know, lodge a complaint, and do something about it. The stalkers need to know you are not helpless.
