Born on 30-December-1865 in Bombay Presidency of British India, Rudyard Kipling was just 5 when he was taken by his parents to England. It has been ages since he passed away, but thanks to the many beautiful words he strung, he remains immortal in our hearts. And to his fans, his talent as a writer will always remain insurmountable.
His works like- Just So Stories and The Jungle Book made our childhood days significant, and still rank high in our list of loveable texts. From the list of many moving poems he wrote, Gunga Din remains close to many hearts. The poem, set in British India, talks about a water-bearer who saves an English soldier’s life, but, is killed soon after.
