Twitter Floods With Memes After RBI Decides To Pull Out ₹2000 Notes From Circulation

By now, most of you must have been aware that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to pull out the Rs 2000 notes that are circulating in the economy as per the bank’s ‘Clean Note Policy’.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, RBI observed that the Rs 2,000 note is not commonly used for transactions and the stock of other denomination notes is adequate to meet the currency requirement. Apparently, RBI stopped the printing of ₹2,000 banknotes in 2018-2019. However, the notes will continue to be legal tender.

So, those who still possess the soon-to-be-scrapped Rs 2000 notes can simply deposit the notes into their bank accounts or exchange them for other denomination notes. The exchange, however, can be done up to a limit of Rs 20,000 at a time reportedly done till September 30, 2023.

As soon as this news made headlines, Indians took to social media to share funny memes and jokes on the removal of the Rs 2,000 note from circulation. Take a look:

While those who have loads of Rs 2000 notes are fretting, people are making jokes about the situation. What is this behaviour, Puja? LOL!
