What was touching to see was how SS Rajamouli credited the women in his life in his acceptance speech after receiving the award. Even though he had a few seconds to make his speech, he also gave a shoutout to our motherland, India.

“To all the women in my life. My mother Raja Nandini thought school education was overrated and she encouraged me to read comics and storybooks and encouraged my creativity. My sister-in-law Srivalli who became like a mother to me always encourages me to be the best version of me. My wife Rama… she’s the costume designer of my films but more than that she is the designer of my life. If she’s not here I am not here today. To my daughters, their smiles are enough to light my life up. And finally to my motherland India, Mera Bharat Mahan – Jai hind,” he said.

Here’s a video of his acceptance speech:

We all know that ‘RRR’ has put Indian cinema on the global map and has a massive international fan following. Several Hollywood actors, directors, and artists praised the film and made it trend across social media platforms for months.

But it was truly surprising to know that even James Camaron, the legendary maker of Avatar, Titanic and Terminator, is a fan of the film! Apparently, he watched the film twice and spent a good ten minutes speaking to SS Rajamouli about ‘RRR’ at the Critics Choice Awards.

The music veteran and composer of ‘Naatu Naatu’ M.M. Keeravaani took to Twitter to reveal that James Cameron also spoke about the music in ‘RRR’ and how it “varies in the volume and body” unlike typical western films.

What a great start to the day. Congratulations team ‘RRR’!
