RPF Braveheart Dies Saving Woman & 3 Kids From Approaching Train, Family To Donate His Eyes

Help comes to us in the most unexpected situations and from the most unexpected places. However, ‘helping’ someone out of a grave circumstance may come at a price.

A brave RPF (Railway Protection Force) constable recently lost his life after saving a woman and her three children from an incoming train near the Azadpur-Adarsh Nagar railway station stretch in Delhi.

According to sources, the 50-year old constable, Jagbir Singh Rana, was on patrolling duty when the incident happened at 9.30 PM. He was posted in the area along with other constables to prevent snatching and robbery.

Rana spotted the woman and her three children on the tracks and a nearing Hoshiyar Express. He pushed all of them to an adjacent track where another train, Kalkaji-Shatabdi Express, was approaching.

He again managed to get them out of the way to safety but this time he was hit by the train.

Residents of the nearby area spotted Rana bleeding on the tracks. He had major injuries on his head, arms, and feet. He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Sources revealed that RPF senior officials conducted a wreath-laying ceremony for him in Dayabasti. Later, Rana’s body was taken to his native Jatola village in Sonepat.

Having lost a valuable member, Rana’s family still hopes to keep his helping spirit alive by wanting to donate his eyes to someone in need.

“My father worked day and night patrolling the railway tracks. The RPF and Northern Railways officials gave him utmost respect during his funeral. We donated his eyes as it will help another person,” said his son Rohit.

Not just his family, but the entire RPF is grieving the loss. They talked about what a treasure Rana had been.

“He was a very hardworking RPF officer. We had forwarded his name for the awards,” said senior DSC officer (RPF) Rajiv Kumar Verma.

Rana has left behind his wife, two sons, and two daughters. The RPF and Northern Railways have declared that they would take care of the family to their utmost capacity.

The sacrifice that Rana has made cannot be explained in words but he left us with a strong message on selflessness. The country is proud of this braveheart!
