Ronit Roy Says He’s Selling Things To Provide For 100 Families Amid Lockdown

With so many sectors being affected by the nationwide lockdown, the entertainment industry hasn’t been spared too. The lockdown has delayed shooting and production. Hence, several actors are now out of work or haven’t been paid for months.

Actor Ronit Roy recently opened up about having no work and not making money during the lockdown.

According to Hindustan Times, he revealed how he is “selling things” to earn money and support families he is responsible for.

“Personally, I haven’t made money since January. I have a small business which was running and is now shut since March. Whatever I have, I am selling things to support about 100 families that I am responsible for,” he said.

Commenting upon the recent suicide of a TV actor due to financial distress, Ronit Roy recalled how he struggled for 4 years after the release of his first film but didn’t resort to self-harm. News18 quoted him saying:

“My first film was released in 1992 ‘Jaan Tere Naam’ which was a blockbuster. For the next six months, I did not receive a single call. Then I got all kinds of trashy work which I did for three years and around ’96, all the work dried up. I did not kill myself. I am not passing judgement on anybody. Everyone at some point in their life faces a financial crisis. I feel if you are facing a financial crisis then killing yourself is not a solution.”

It is unfortunate how so many people across various sections of society are suffering financially due to the ongoing pandemic. We can only be hopeful for a better future and pray for this time to pass!
