Rohit Roy Posts Two Shirtless Photos To Share An Important Truth About Social Media Pressure

Fun though it is, social media does bring cravings for social validation. Be it a chase for the most followers and likes or more fundamentally- the need to appear as if you’re living your best life. If you find life isn’t quite complete without #goals, #happy or constant #vacaymode; then perhaps you can relate to actor Rohit Roy’s latest post.

Roy took to Instagram, sharing a couple of pictures of himself. One incredibly lean while the other a little out of shape. However, the real magic was in the caption that spelt out the perils of social media’s pressure.

It all began when Roy was invited for a Ted Talks event in Ahmedabad. He spoke of the trip writing, “I met with a bunch of young millennials, hardly 15-16, n I was disturbed by some of the stories I heard.. a lot of them suffered from depression caused by social media.

“One of them felt so terribly left out of what her friends were up to after school and on their vacays that the poor kid refused to come out of her room for days,” Roy wrote.

However, there’s more. The actor decided that the only way to truly get through to the kids was to share his own story. Thus he posted the two shirtless pictures of himself adding that one is for showbiz and the other is the real him.

Take a look at his post-

“Social media is nothing but looking at life through rose tinted glasses.. people usually exaggerate to make the post sound better and photoshop pictures to make themselves look nicer.. so please, DO NOT base your life on what is being put out there,” Rohit shared.

His post urges us all to make real connections, not digital ones. After all, looks are fleeting and friends are forever, aren’t they?
