Roger Federer’s Opponent Steals His Towel In A Major Fangirl Moment After A Match

There is a reason Roger Federer is referred to as the GOAT. A record 20 Grand Slam singles titles, including a staggering 8 Wimbledon triumphs, speak volumes about the player’s mojo.

Now, let us ask you a simple question. What do you do when you meet a man of similar stature? You have a fanboy/girl moment.

And when Roger Federer took the court for his country, Switzerland, in the Hopman Cup mixed double’s match, 23-year-old Maria Sakkari just had the moment of her life. Sakkari who teamed up with Stefanos Tsitsipas to represent her country Greece was facing Federer and his partner Belinda Bencic in the tie.

Though it was Sakkari’s return of Federer’s serve which completed an emphatic victory for Greece, the young woman was in complete awe of Roger. The glow was almost visible on her face as she shook hands with the all-time great.

Speaking in an interview after the match, Sakkari revealed how euphoric she felt. However, after completing her business on the mic, she realized that Federer had left a towel on his bench. She went onto pick up the towel and make it hers, giving the crowd a moment to cheer.
