Education powers the world because it helps us make informed and wise decisions. So, it goes without saying that books are the key to a better future. And, in order to encourage the habit of reading, a number of people around the globe have set up free libraries. Like, the open library in Pune or the ‘Bal Pustakalaya’ or magnificent dead tree turned into a free library.
Now, another library has joined the noble initiative. A mini roadside library has been set up in Mizoram’s capital Aizawl, reports Hindustan Times. The purpose of the library is to encourage more and more people to read.
Have a look at the post shared by IFS officer Parveen Kaswan:
Now this is what every city must copy. #Mizoram's capital #Aizawl has a couple of these tiny roadside libraries. Libraries are the best investment for nation building. North East showing the way. Via @asomputra pic.twitter.com/mFmFspuSyg

The creative initiative will help in building a community. They will also provide access to exchange free books. So, basically you can take a book for free and then can leave a book if you want to. There is no security as such at the roadside library and people are expected to follow the rules and return the books after reading.
Many people applauded the wonderful concept:

Its quite assuring that India still has places full of honesty n innocence.

Indeed, very amazing initiative. Now, I don't want to wait to visit Aizawl as soon as possible.

Beautiful isn't it?! A few years ago, citizens in Dimapur pulled in resources to open the first public library! I still visit children libraries and get books. Given I missed out on so many amazing books as a child, I balance my life with books meant for kids from 4 yrs till 100!

Several others suggested that the amazing initiative should be replicated in their states as well:
@CeoNoida @noida_authority @dmgbnagar this initiative can also be replicated here . Maximum citizens would love to donate the books for this . Like bartan bank and Thela / bag banks this can b rollled out across sectors of noida

Interesting & innovative concept to enable everyone to read and must be replicated across parks, zoos, beaches and public places !! Thank you for the info !!

Absolutely innovative! This is what we need. I have seen across the lanes of Kolkata where free news papers are being kept for citizen readers.

We too have such roadside libraries here in Baltimore. We need these everywhere!

As a book lover myself, I think this is a beautiful concept that will help inculcate the habit of reading in people. What do you think? Should such a roadside library be there in every state? Let us know in the comments below.
