RJ Malishka Is Back With A Pothole Song, ‘Mumbai Khadyaat’ And It Puts The Zing In ‘Zingaat’

The hardcore pluviophiles might disapprove of me saying this, but I’m done with this year’s monsoon. Ab bas bhi kar yaar baarish. I miss waking up in the morning without having to worry about needing to swim to work. And judging by the torrent of rain memes pouring down from Twitter, I think I’m not the only one. Well, technically speaking the rain can’t be blamed for this. It is the shabby state of our infrastructure that’s causing us so much trouble.

Every year with the onset of monsoon, more potholes pop up on our roads than moral police on valentine’s day. And while some of us just sit and mutter about it, some people actively voice their concerns with the authorities.

RJ Malishka is one of them. Along with 93.5 Red FM, she runs campaigns every year on the state of Mumbai in the rains.

Last year she had released a pothole parody titled ‘Mumbai tula BMC var Bharosa nai ka’. The song which took a dig at BMC for the sorry upkeep of the city had gone crazy viral. Along with virality, the song had also brought in a lot of trouble for the RJ with Shiv Sena youth attempting to file a defamation case against her and the BMC lashing out at her with a notice stating that she was breeding mosquitoes in her house. Yeah, mosquitoes.

Well, Malishka ain’t one to get intimidated by such bullying tactics and right on cue released this year’s edition of the pothole parody yesterday.

The monsoon song titled ‘Mumbai Khadyaat’ is a parody of the popular Marathi film song “Zingat” from Sairat.

With quite a healthy dose of sarcasm and Malishka’s envious energy, lines like “Aata taxi bolvu kya, ya main boat chalaun kya?” will have you singing along.

Trust me, this is the most relatable song to every Mumbaikar today. Watch:

This is officially the best Mumbai baarish anthem ever! Kudos to Malishka for not backing down despite the harassment she faced last year. Keep them coming, you badass woman!
