19 YO Bankura Girl Starts Receiving Marriage Proposals After Getting An Autograph From PM Modi

19-year-old Rita Mudi, a second-year student of the Bankura Christian College, is not the same, ordinary girl anymore. Thanks to an autograph from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which changed her life for good.

The story roots back to 16th July 2018, when Rita and her mother were in Midnapore, where Narendra Modi was giving a speech. During the event, the tent under which they were sitting crashed and they had to be rushed to the hospital.

In a heartwarming gesture, Modi not only went to see Rita at the hospital but spoke to her and gave her an autograph. Speaking about the same, Rita told TOI,

Rita revealed that on asking the Prime Minister for his autograph, he initially hesitated a bit. However, when she insisted, Modi wished her good health on a piece of paper.

“I requested an autograph. I saw him hesitate a bit, but I insisted. He then wrote,’Rita Mudi tum sukhi raho (Stay well, Rita Mudi). Narendra Modi”

That was the turning point in Rita’s life. It is because of the autograph that Rita is now a celebrity in her village, Salgera located some 230 km away from Kolkata. According to her, people started visiting their house from the very next day to see the Prime Minister’s signature.

“From the very next day, we started having a stream of visitors at our home. They all wanted to see the autograph.”

Wait. That’s not all. Rita even received two marriage proposals following the incident. Rita’s mother, Sandhya said that when Rita had received a proposal before the incident, the boy had asked for 1 Lakh dowry. However, after getting hold of Modi’s autograph, she got a proposal from a businessman from Jharkhand, who did not have any demands.

“Not only visitors, we received two marriage proposals for Rita. One was from Jharkhand’s Tatanagar. The groom has his own business and had no demands. The second was from Bankura. The groom owns agricultural land. Both my daughters want to study. So we didn’t show much interest.”

Rita has her intentions clear. Speaking about the same, she stated that she wants to study now and will marry when her parents think the time is right. We wish her all the best for her future.
