Tweeple Bid A Teary Goodbye To MDH ‘Chacha’ After He Dies Of Cardiac Arrest At 97

Indian food is nothing without its flavourful masalas. And one such Indian brand which can be credited for spicing up our tastebuds is Mahshian Di Hatti aka MDH masala. I know, just reading the name reminds your of its very popular jingle ‘Asli masale sach sach..MDH MDH!’ that is etched in our minds strongly than many trending songs.

While we love the spices, its owner Mahashay Dharampal Gulati also has a special place in our hearts for bringing the brand to where it is today and being his own brand ambassador. But the sad news is that the famous MDH ‘Chacha’ will no more appear in any new TV commercial of his home-grown brand.

Dharampal Gulati breathed his last on Thursday morning at a hospital in Delhi. According to News18, the 97-year-old entrepreneur was undergoing treatment when he suffered cardiac arrest and bid us adieu at 5.30 am.

Gulati was born in Sialkot (present-day Pakistan). But he along with his family migrated to the country during the partition of India. Son of a spice vendor, the Padma Bhushan awardee established the company in 1959 that now exports spices across the globe.

Dressed in his trademark red turban, Gulati somehow became a part of our lives. Hence, people online were heartbroken on hearing the news of his sudden demise.

We are glad that we could be a part of his legacy and learn from India’s most inspiring entrepreneur. Sleep in peace, Dadaji!
