18 YO Rex Singh From Manipur Picks Up 10 Wickets In An innings, Sets Twitter Ablaze

On 7th February 1999, Indian spin legend Anil Kumble achieved the impossible. Playing against arch-rival Pakistan in Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Kumble became the second bowler in the history of Test cricket, to pick up all the 10 wickets in a single innings of a Test match. The Bengaluru-born bowler’s surreal figure of 10/74 went down into the record books as one of the most iconic spells in the game’s antiquity.

However, almost 20 years after Kumble’s phenomenal display, a left-arm medium pacer from Manipur has managed to replicate the same.

Believe it or not, Rajkumar Rex Singh, in his devastating bowling stint against Arunachal Pradesh in an Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match, grabbed all the 10 scalps in the innings!

Ending his time on the field with a sensational figure of 9.5-6-10-11, he managed to hit the timber 5 times, trapped two for LBW and three were caught.

The left-armer boasts of some serious pace, rhythm and can also swing the ball significantly. His action resembles that of Irfan Pathan as he goes for a slight jump before the release.

Rex’s destructive spell sent shockwaves through the cricket fraternity with people wanting him in Virat Kohli’s squad already!

Selectors, take note.

He might be there soon.

Breathtaking stuff!

Look at the in-swingers!

You bet.

He is no ordinary bowler.

Looks like Irfan Pathan in his heydays!

Manipur’s got talent.

We can see a lot of bids coming.

Rex – remember the name.

Multi-talented.

We hope he capitalizes on the start.

Earlier this year, Rex made his List-A debut against Mizoram in the Vijay Hazare trophy. The teenager excelled immediately with a five-wicket haul and announced himself to the world. Talking about his experience, the promising talent has played in two Ranji seasons as well.

With all the ingredients in place, we won’t be surprised if the lad makes it through the IPL to the Indian dressing room!
