2014 acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi’s story is one of immense strength and bravery. Last month, it was decided that she will grace the ramp at the New York Fashion Week. And the moment has arrived.
Reshma Qureshi walked the runway, looking beautiful in an Archana Kochhar ensemble, proudly, with her head held high and pose on point.
“Why should we not enjoy our lives? What happened to us is not our fault and we’ve done nothing wrong and so we should also move forward in life. I feel really good and the experience was great. I feel as though it has definitely changed my life.”
Reshma was a model even before the acid attack by her brother-in-law. Her walk on the ramp betrayed no signs of fear or discomfort. She walked as if she owned the place.
“I want to tell the world – do not see us in a weak light and see that even we can go out and do things. People have a tendency to look at acid attack survivors from one perspective and I don’t want them to look at them like that anymore.”
Reshma is also scheduled to walk for the Vaishali Couture show later this week.
