For a lot of us, life looks like this. But for some couples, having kids is not the next step after marriage. Reddit user u/scream_schleam and her husband have chosen to not have children and often get questions as to why they made this decision. So she decided to ask couples who want kids their reasoning for the same to hear answers from the other side.

What are your reasons for wanting or having kids other than ‘that’s just what you do after getting married’? from india

Those who had opted to have children shared how life is infinitely more fulfilling as parents. They also added that kids multiplied their happiness and minimized their regrets.

On the other side of the scale, there were those who wanted to focus on themselves, their careers, their travel, and their hobbies. A few noted how they didn’t want to bring a new life into a world full of problems and that they didn’t believe their marriage would fall apart without a kid.
