90’s Superhero Nagraj To Get His Own Film! Ranveer Singh In Talks To Play The Lead

Every 90’s kid has grown up watching Chacha Chaudhary, Shaktiman, Nagraj, Super Commando Dhruva and many others. Our childhood was all about reading and watching the adventures of these characters and learning from them. But eventually, as DC and Marvel’s Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Captain America made its way to the Indian TV and movie screens, we somewhere lost contact with our desi superheroes.

But deep down inside, we still miss them and wish their stories were made into movies. And seems like, the wait is finally over!

Manoj Gupta, president of publisher Raj Comics, which introduced us to one of our favourite superheroes Nagraj has confirmed that he is planning to bring the character on silver screens. Accordingly, he said that he is in talks with Karan Johar to produce the film while Ranveer will be likely roped in to play the lead, reports India Today.

“We are in talks with Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar for a live-action silver-screen adaptation of Nagraj. While nothing is inked so far, things are looking positive,” Gupta told HT.

“When we created Nagraj we never imagined that it would attract such a wide fan following across India and we all are happy that finally, a Nagraj movie is taking shape,” Gupta added.

The news has thrown fans into a frenzy as they believe Ranveer Singh would certainly do justice to Nagraj!

‘Nagraj’, meaning ‘Snake King’ debuted in the late 1980s. It was created by Sanjay Gupta and published by Raj Comics. While Prashuram Sharma penned the very first story in the comic, Pratap Mullik drew the illustrations.

Though the film is just in the initial phase of development, Gupta believes that the film probably would make its way to cinema halls in 2022.

“Everyone is extremely enthusiastic about the idea of making a Nagraj feature film. While other superhero films have been made in Bollywood before, this will be the first live-action adaptation of an Indian comic book superhero,” he said.

Gupta also revealed that his team is trying to bring various characters from his comic book on several different platforms. “We are in talks to create a Banke Lal animated show for kids with a leading animation studio and a high-end 3D Nagraj animated film. We are also discussing live-action web-series with various producers,” the director said.

We soon hope to watch Ranveer Singh turning into our childhood’s favourite superhero Nagraj! Are you excited? Tell us!
