I don’t think people understand the kind of impact snide remarks on a person’s body have on them. Joking about a person’s weight, skin colour, and how they look in general is so normalised in our society that we forget the insecurities and body-image issues they birth.
Women anyway have immense pressure on them to meet societal standards of beauty – tall, slim, and fair – and to joke about their bodies when they are pregnant is insensitive. And Ranbir Kapoor is being called out for doing so.

In a live session alongside Alia Bhatt and Ayan Mukerji where the trio was talking about ‘Brahmastra’, Ranbir Kapoor looks at Alia’s baby bump and says “well somebody has phaelaod”, basically saying that she has grown bigger in size.
It’s all fun and games until you see Alia’s reaction to it. Here’s a video of the moment that was shared on the subreddit r/BollyBlindsNGossip. Wait till the end:

Many people in the comments section called Ranbir Kapoor out for his comment. Some women said that they wouldn’t tolerate their husbands or boyfriends making such comments about their bodies, even if it’s supposed to be a joke.
Do you think people should stop unnecessarily commenting about other people’s bodies altogether? Unless it’s a compliment, of course! If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all.
