Social media trolls are a terrible fungus plaguing every nook and cranny of the internet. They send out hateful messages, make lewd comments and often times, are downright disgusting. Most of us simply ignore them and eventually they stop. However, it doesn’t really solve the problem, does it? Ignoring a troll simply gets their focus off you and onto somebody else? So how do you put an end to a troll, permanently?
Rana Ayyub recently employed an effective solution.
A troll sent some particularly distasteful messages to the renowned Indian journalist on Facebook. In order to teach him a lesson, Rana revealed his online profile and made his messages public.
Just a sample of the filth i receive on my facebook page. Time to name and shame this pervert pic.twitter.com/e6xeA019JF

The troll, Balachandran Lal, was employed at a UAE-based company Shadi Al Refai. Soon after his company caught wind of the news, the guy was FIRED.
“We verified the accuracy of the information and checked on the name of the man. On April 8, at 8 am the termination order of (B.B.) was issued.”
the Human resources manager of the firm said.
What’s more, even the UAE government didn’t take Balachandran’s messages lightly.Â
UAE govt has revoked Bincy Lal's visa and r deporting him back to India. A lesson for those who harass us, will drag you out of ur ratholes

He definitely got what he deserved.
Twitterati lauded Rana Ayyub for her bold move:
1. Well done!

And it’s not the first time this troll has been causing trouble online. Looks like he’s a serial offender:Â
1. Yeah, wow. I can’t even. WTF, bro?
@MariaSharapova How dare you say bitch , you do not know our God @sachin_rt ,,, No one shall be allowed to say like this you slut…
— Bincylal.B (@Bincylal) July 3, 2014
2. Please, please, please…. do not deactivate spell check.
@MehrTarar You son of a bitch do not utter a bad word against RSS.. You understand the keep of SASI TAROOR
— Bincylal.B (@Bincylal) August 16, 2014
However, there were some “troll sympathisers” too:
1. He was definitely on something.
UAE is free to take action against anyone violating their laws, what about you; for violating Indian laws for long & doing paid journalism??
— Vembanat🇮🇳 (@Vishwapada) April 10, 2017
2. And this one was a stickler for technicalities.
As in he's doing it outside work so needs to be dealt without bringing the employer. Had it been in the office or with coworker, different.
— Ramanan (@Ramanan_V) April 9, 2017
Rana Ayyub certainly set a strong example for others to follow and trolls to fear. Let’s not take internet trolls lightly anymore. Show them that their actions will have consequences. Let’s rid the internet of such scum.
