Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is one of the thousands of festivals celebrated in India. This festival celebrates the bond of love between brothers and sisters and dates back to around hundreds of years ago. On this auspicious occasion, sisters tie a ‘Raksha Dhaga’ or ‘Rakhi’ on their brother’s wrist symbolically asking them to protect them in adverse circumstances.
The festival is said to have gained popularity when Rani Karnavati, a widowed queen of Chittor sent a Rakhi to emperor Humayun when she couldn’t defend her kingdom from his invasion. The festival also has its mention in the Hindu Epic, Mahabharata.
Ideally, people would gather at a place where sisters would tie the rakhi to their brothers and demand gifts in return. But due to Covid-19 restrictions, many of us are celebrating it virtually. Even though the virus has ruined the celebrations, there is no dearth of #RakshaBandhan memes online.
Here are some of them:

I am sure that at least one of the memes would have reminded you of your brother. So go on, share it with him and remind him that even though we are not celebrating Rakhi with much pomp and enthusiasm, he still owes you a gift.
