Rajat Barmecha Recalls Being Snubbed While ‘Star Kids With No Films’ Were Clicked On The Red Carpet

Actor Rajat Barmecha was only a 17-year-old when he came to Mumbai chasing fame and success. And, within 6 months he landed ‘Udaan’ earning rave reviews and praises from all quarters. However, he says despite his brilliant performance, attention was given to star kids who didn’t even have any projects in hand, reports TOI.

Speaking about his initial success in Bollywood as an outsider, the actor was quoted saying by Hindustan Times, “Everywhere I went, I was being complimented for my performance. As a 21-year-old actor, it gave me hope. I read every script that came my way, but they were all mediocre, formulaic films or those in which I was there throughout, but added no value. I couldn’t afford to do a bad film because then, I’d be written off as a one-film wonder.”

The actor revealed how he was appreciated by top stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan for his performance but still didn’t get any attention at award shows or red carpets. He was quoted saying by Mumbai Mirror,

“But on the red carpet, those with no project to their name but coming from a film background were clicked more than me, while the producers who had praised my work earlier, did not recognize me.”

Eventually, he worked on projects he wasn’t too keen on, for money. However, after watching Sean Penn-directed ‘Into The Wild’, he was inspired to travel the world. The actor has now started scripting. He plans to finish his script during this lockdown and have it read by ‘Udaan’ director Vikramaditya Motwane.

Well, while Rajat is an amazing actor, we can’t wait to see what he has in store as a storyteller. How about you? Would you want to see the ‘Udaan’ actor back on the big screen? Tell us!
