Brave Raipur Cop Risks His Life To Save Youth Attempting Suicide From A Skywalk

Even though the Police force stands for ensuring the safety of the citizens, in India, we turn doubtful on seeing a man donning the ‘khakee’. Blame it on their defamed image or our Bollywood movies, the truth is as ironical as it can get. While a lion’s share of us consider all of them to be corrupted or a victim of the pressure on top, let me tell you that exceptions are a reality.

And here is an incident that took place in Raipur, which will drive our point home.

In a heroic rescue, a brave traffic cop from Raipur, Chandra Prakash, saved the life of a youth who tried to commit suicide He was on traffic duty at the city’s Shastri Chowk at his usual time of 7 am on Tuesday.

According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, the young man climbed the skywalk to hang himself. But while trying to do so, he got stuck between two pipes. People gathered around him as he was hanging there with the support of a rod for 2.5 hours.

Some people brought this to the notice of traffic cop Chandra Prakash. He immediately rushed to the scene himself and updated the control room.

As the force was taking much time to reach the spot, the Jawan took matter into his own hands. He started to climb the skywalk with the help of a ladder. But the ladder wasn’t tall enough to reach the youth. Still Chandra Prakash didn’t give up hope and somehow took a leap to the top and saved the boy.

If reports are to be believed, the boy is a victim of a mental illness and had just shifted to Narayanpur to be trained as a home guard.

However, what makes us happy is that Chandra Prakash’s heroics caught the eye of the authorities. While DSP Traffic Satish Thakur arrived at the spot himself and gave him a pat on the back for his courageous act, Raipur IG IG Deepshu Kabra promised to reward him.

Bravo, buddy. The country is in dire need of more loyal and able officers like you.
