We’ve all grown up learning ‘Newton’s laws of motion’, ‘Einstein’s theory of relativity’ and many such basic scientific theories. Remember the popular story about Newton and apple? Of course!

Well, looks like, our Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal doesn’t!

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently made an announcement on the auto sector slowdown that the country is facing currently and blamed ‘millennial mentality’ for it. She was subsequently trolled on Twitter by sarcastic millennials. Now it is Union Minister Piyush Goyal who’s words have incited trolls.

When asked about how India will rise to become a $5-trillion economy at the current rate, Goyal defended the percentage at which our country is growing at and said, “Don’t get into the calculations that you see on television.”

“If you look at a $5 trillion economy, the country will have to grow at 12%, today it’s growing at 6%-7%, don’t get into those maths,” he is seen saying in the video which is now going viral on social media.

He continued to speak and made a major goof-up as he said,

“Maths never helped Einstein discover gravity.”

Desi Twitter quickly jumped in and schooled Goyal about the basics of science and reminded him that discovery of gravity had nothing to do with Einstein in ways as hilarious and sarcastic as possible!

But Goyal isn’t alone here. And Twitter isn’t the only place where gravity, Newton and Einstein are trending. A lot of Indians took to google to confirm ‘who discovered gravity?’ Have a look:

For those who don’t know, Newton discovered gravity (thanks to the apple that fell on his head years ago).

Whether or not millennials are responsible for the economic fluctuations, we’re certainly up for schooling people who goof up basic facts in hilarious ways.
