‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ is a memorable film for several reasons. Its star-studded cast, the songs, the dialogues and the locations at which the scenes of the film were shot made for a unique and larger-than-life visual, back in the day. For a middle-class person like myself, the huge mansion in which the Raichand family lived was particularly exciting to watch and made me think, toh aise rehte hai ameer log.
Mind you, in the film, it is portrayed as though the mansion is in Delhi and very close to Chandni Chowk. And most of us believed it. Karan Johar made fools of many of us back in the day and it is only recently that people on Twitter realised that the Raichand house is not really in Delhi, but in the United Kingdom.
The house is actually Waddesdon Manor!
A woman named Shruti Sonal posted a picture of the location on Twitter and wrote, “I still can’t believe Karan Johar made us believe that this was a house in Delhi AND walking distance from Chandni Chowk.”
