Amidst the nepotism debate in Bollywood, a lot of celebrity star kids are under the scanner of trolls and receiving backlash on social media. One of them is actress Alia Bhatt, whose mother Soni Razdan recently jumped to her defense saying that star kids face a lot of expectations.
Moreover, some people have also mistaken actor turned producer Rahul Bhat to be Alia’s brother owing to their similar surnames. This seems to have irked him as he took to Twitter to express his disappointment, reports Hindustan Times. He tweeted:
If u call @aliaa08 a product of #Nepotism then you are harming the entire debate. She is a brilliant ,gifted actor, she is here because she is capable of Carrying a film on her shoulders
Ps- I ain’t her brother so don’t tag me nonsense without verifying who it is u r referring to— Rahul Bhat (@RahulBhatActor) July 2, 2020
His tweet found the support of Soni Razdan amongst others who retweeted Bhat to spread the message further that he is not related to Alia.
I have to agree. Alia Bhatt is a brilliant actor. https://t.co/kiUHFoYdTA

But not everyone was supportive. Upon being questioned by one of the fans, he tweeted in reply:-
NO , I really don’t like movies that her father makes lately , ab bolo ? https://t.co/oisdIBkmDY

Others opined saying,
Yes she is a brilliant actor. No doubt. She would have made such a name if she not a daughter of a director? She would have got such offers if she was not a daughter of a director? You are missing the entire point. Talent is precious but nepotism is killing it..

hahahah! I know you sir! But I humbly have reservation on your statement that she is not a product of nepotism, chances she got may be due to influence of her father but ya her inherent gift may keep her going!

While the reactions to his tweet still remain a mixed bag, Bhat seems to stand his ground firmly on the situation. What do you guys think?
