You’ve got to admit that we’re all suckers for an amazing transformation story. But when the exciting metamorphosis involves a veteran actor getting into the skin of a particularly tricky character; we say- bring it on! Well, R Madhavan does not disappoint. The actor’s next is a debut directorial Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. It sees him slink into the skin of ISRO scientist and aerospace engineer S Nambi Narayanan.

We map his journey in a 5-step transformation so seamless that he surfaces as Narayanan’s doppelganger! Don’t believe us? See for yourself-

Step #1 Growing the mane

On Monday, Madhavan shared a photo from the set of the film where he was seen with the clapboard of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. This is the last you’ll see of his salt and pepper beard for a while!

Step #2 The Cut and Blowout

“The process took painfully long, about two days of sitting on a chair for 14 hours at a stretch. Initially, it looked easy, but later I realised how tough it was on the body,” Maddy said according to Indian Express. However, he explained that the look was only half the battle won. “The other half was really tough because the age group I am playing is around 70-75. It wasn’t easy, and it’s probably one of the toughest looks and characters I’ve had to pull off.

Step #3 Colouring it Snowy White!

His latest video shows him colouring his hair as well as his mooch and beard. Psst.. it’s all going ‘Santa’ white and Maddy seems pretty apprehensive himself!

Step #4 Soak in What they’re Attempting to Achieve

Step #5 Viola!

Check out his final look as Nambi from the sets of the film. In the photo, the 48-year-old actor looks like a doppelganger of the Indian scientist and aerospace engineer!

Talking about the thrilling transformation, Madhavan shared-

“Mr Nambi is a very good looking man and he has got his own charm and charisma. It took me around two and a half years to actually imbibe him and learn how to walk like him,” revealed Madhavan.

For the uninitiated, Nambi Narayanan was a senior official at ISRO who was charged with espionage in 1994. CBI dismissed the charges against him in 1996 and in 1998, Supreme Court declared him not guilty. With such an intriguing plot and marvelous transformation, we dare say this flick shall be a compelling watch!
