This Puducherry Beggar Has ₹15k Cash & ₹2 Lakh In Bank & It’s More Than Most Of Us Save

Whenever we see a beggar, most of us instantly give them some change owing to their impoverished appearance. We usually assume they’d need to buy some food for themselves. But this unusual case of a beggar woman from Puducherry will prove you should never judge a book by it’s cover.

The police were called in to make her move away from the temple. The cops were shocked when they found her with Rs.15,000 worth of cash in her shanty, reported News18. They also found the woman with a passbook with Rs. 2 lakh to her credit.

When the police interrogated her, Parvatham said she had collected the money by asking for alms from devotees visiting the temple. She also had an Aadhaar card in the bag. According to HT, the old woman was shifted to an old age home and her relatives living in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi were informed.

This is not the first time that a beggar was found with so much money in their custody. Earlier, police found an 82-year-old beggar with FDs and coins worth Rs.11 Lacs when they investigated his death after he was allegedly run over by a train between Mankhurd and Govandi stations. In another case, an elderly woman beggar in Ajmer donated her entire savings of Rs 6.61 Lakhs to the families of the Pulwama Attack Martyrs.

So next time, better think before you judge someone, you might be talking to a ‘lakhpati’.
