While people are still outraged over the 27-year-old veterinary doctor’s horrifying rape and murder, MPs in Rajya Sabha are now demanding death penalties for rapists and lynching of the accused in the public, reports TOI.
However, according to News18, these responses don’t answer the burning question on everyone’s minds – how to make women safe in India. As fear and shock grips the country, a woman who was presumably participating in a march, said that since men are the problem they should be the ones staying at home.
This is the voice of the women of India.
"I don't want man to sareguard me. I want to say, 'you are the cause of the problem. You stay behind. Let the world be free.'"How long can we continue ignoring her? pic.twitter.com/o0rGlq9QbS

In the video shared on social media, the agitated woman can be heard saying,
“I don’t want a policeman or my brother or any other man to safeguard me. Since the cause of the problem is you, You stay behind at home after 7 pm”
However, some said she may have generalized the issue:
We as men are as angry, scared & concerned every time a rape case comes to the fore.
However, the trending blanket anger towards men is highly misplaced.— Jai (@jai_mera_hind) December 2, 2019
Not all men are the problem, in fact, most Indian men are probably as abhorred by the treatment of women in India by a significant minority of men. As an outsider, there seems to be a huge disparity in the mindset of the chattering classes and the uneducated.

Isn't this the outdated reaction which was believed to be the right feminist expression of protest? Both men and women in this country are equally enraged by these brutal rapes. This is not a moment for a slugfest of misogyny vs misandry.

There are several such cases that have shaken the nation and it is high time someone takes appropriate action. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victim’s families. We hope that these criminals once found guilty, receive the harshest punishments.
